New Semester!
Welcome back to a whole new set of classes... and teachers. I am a teacher-candidate from the University of British Columbia and I will be teaching a large portion of this semester in Social Studies 11 (Block 4) with Mr. Benoy and Social Studies 9 (Blocks 1 & 2) with Ms. Hayter. I am very excited and I hope we have a great semester!

This blogsite will have lesson plans and links to particular assignments. I will try to ensure that all assignments are made available on the Internet in this way. If something is underlined on the blog, it means that you can click on it to see a copy of the particular item - this could be a pdf document, powerpoint, music or a video. Use this blog to see what is coming up each week. If you are away, you can check up on what you are missing. If you do not have an Internet connection, you probably know someone who does or you can ask me the old-fashioned way.

Sutherland has a license to access Discovery Channel's United Streaming video collection. Students may download or stream videos from the collection by going to
http://www.unitedstreaming.com/. Use the passcode posted in the classroom to register. If you have lost it, see me, or e-mail me, for this information. Students are licensed to include this content within their own creations.
If you have any questions or would like some help with the material or the homework, you can contact me anytime by e-mail at: emilycarlson@telus.net. I will be at the school (usually somewhere in the Social Studies wing) everyday before and after school but my official tutorial times will be in Mr. Benoy's room Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:55-3:15 pm.
